{"id":94,"date":"2009-01-31T21:05:18","date_gmt":"2009-02-01T03:05:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/home.iseeancestors.com\/blog\/?p=94"},"modified":"2009-01-31T21:05:18","modified_gmt":"2009-02-01T03:05:18","slug":"solution-domain","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/home.iseeancestors.com\/blog\/2009\/01\/31\/solution-domain\/","title":{"rendered":"Solution Domain"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I think perhaps the solution to every problem is trivial, if only you know the domain in which the solution lies.\u00a0 Of course determining that domain is the hard part of finding a solution.\u00a0 Two examples from the newspaper led me to this hypothesis.<\/p>\n<p>One is the crossword puzzle in the daily paper.\u00a0 Once you get a sense of the types of words they tend to use, you can more quickly and easily solve a puzzle.\u00a0 For instance the words <em>Era<\/em> and <em>Eon<\/em> appear frequently.\u00a0 Once you know this, any clues that remotely result in one of these words makes the puzzle easy.<\/p>\n<p>Another is the puzzle for children in the comics section that asks you to find six differences between two similar scenes.\u00a0 Once you realize the types of differences they mean, it is very easy to solve such puzzles.\u00a0 For instance someone&#8217;s arm is slightly bent, or their hair is slightly longer.\u00a0 On subsequent puzzles you simply look for similar kinds of differences.<\/p>\n<p>These solutions seem to lie in particular domains, such that once you stumble upon them, the\u00a0 problems are easily solved.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I think perhaps the solution to every problem is trivial, if only you know the domain in which the solution lies.\u00a0 Of course determining that domain is the hard part of finding a solution.\u00a0 Two examples from the newspaper led me to this hypothesis.
